The biggest in the region and still the most topical – is how the modern art enthusiasts could describe the contemporary dance festival “New Baltic Dance”, which takes place in early May. The event that has become an integral part of Vilnius cultural life, introduces its visitors to the latest dance trends and inspires young choreographers to continue exploring. Professional avant-garde contemporary dance makers from around the world appear at the festival every year since 1997. The organizers of the festival are pleased to have had presented in their program such troupes as “La La La Human Steps” from Canada, the Swedish representatives “Cullbergballet”, Italian “Aterballetto”, a dance troupe from Israel “Kibbutz”, French ballet from Lorraine, “Danish Dance Theater” from Denmark and Russel Maliphant’s troupe from the United Kingdom. Even if you don’t dance, it is likely that watching the professionals, will have you wanting to see all of the breathtaking acts and performances, and so you will be sure to pace a few hundred steps walking from one to another.
