Once a year, there is a summer night in Vilnius, when the city does not sleep. It is then that its citizens and guests get engulfed in a cultural fair. ‘Let It Be Night’- proclaims the spirit of the Culture Night festival, and the residents of Vilnius enthusiastically agree. Theatrical and musical acts, cinema sessions, performance arts and other events flood various Old Town and central areas of the capital. The night that gathers art enthusiasts in the most unexpected places, keeps surprising its visitors in a variety of ways: once, a real circus was held in the middle of the city, and another time, ice sculptures told their fairy-tale on a warm summer night in June. The cultural fest that began its story in 2007, now annually holds about 150 events, which are visited by a wave of hundreds of thousands people. So, if you want to welcome the dawn walking around hand in hand with culture, plan your route and don’t forget the map. Here, you will be able to count both the steps and the cultural impressions in not just hundreds, but thousands.
